Objectives
C.A.R.M.E.N. aims to create a brainstroming space throught international and national meetings and seminars for analytical and prospective studies and identification of possible responses to key issues of the society in the XXI century, worklng especially on relationship between knowledge and society. The objective is to identify in a clear and racional way the main innovations to boost in society to face XXI century and the ways to promote these innovations, including innovations in governance and promoting society’s ability to think and make their own progress. The intentation is to take this discussion not only internationally, but also to the local Alentejo Litoral, to demonstrate what can be done locally, as well as regional/national level, linking international and national seminars.
Partners
For this, the Center works in partnership with different kind of national and international organizations, including:
- TOGETHER, the International Network of Territories of Co-responsibility, ensuring the central secretariat of the Network in partnership with the Municipality of Odemira and the Network animation.
- Urgenci, the International Network for Community Supported Agriculture;
- Several universities and research centers in the world.
Activities already realized
a) International seminars
- International meeting to prepare the CO-ACTE project of the TOGETHER International Network from 23 to 26 August 2015. This project of TOGETHER Network was co-financed by the "Europe for Citizens'" Pr0gram of the European Union with the technical, methodological and logistical support of CARMEN Its objective is to identify, formalize and promote the public policies necessary for the co-responsibility for the well-being of all, from the opinion of citizens and initiatives on the ground.
- Kick off seminar of CO-ACTE Project (Building the Responsibility of European Citizens) of the TOGETHER Network from 27 to 30 September 2015. This seminar bringing together more than 30 people from 8 countries made it possible to specify the methodology of the project and to its programming and realization. More attention was paid to the first phase of collecting citizens' proposals and to the methodology of semantic analysis and synthesis construction.
- Seminar on methodologies for dialogue and accountability, from 3 to 10 April 2016. Comparing the methods Reflect'Action, SPIRAL and Tão of Democracy, applied to the own group of participants for the individual and collective definition of the well-being of all, this seminar evidenced the complementarities between these methods, allowing to delineate a particularly interesting for the territorial animation.
- Seminar on "Co-responsibility in basic needs for the well-being of all today and in the future" (27 and 28 June 2016) - This seminar was the third thematic meeting held in the framework of the CO-ACTE project of TOGETHER International Network. These thematic meetings aim to highlight the complementarities between different concrete initiatives that meet the proposals of the citizens gathered in the CO-ACTE project. This third thematic meeting focused on the basic needs for well-being, including food, health and re-use. The conclusions of the 4 thematic meetings led to produce a "model of reference for developing the well-being of all today and in the future".
